Back in Session
We consider September to be New Year's 2.0. Maybe it's all those years of new Trapper Keepers and first-day outfits (some more regrettable than others). This month signals a fresh start. Morning routines return, calendars fill back up, and that "I'll deal with it after Labor Day" list officially comes due.
We may not be heading back to school, but we're definitely getting back to business.
Here's what's on the syllabus this month.
The Only True Protest Is Beauty, the inaugural exhibition at the Fondazione Dries Van Noten in Venice, explores the idea that when the world feels anything but beautiful, creating beauty can itself be an act of resistance.
More than 200 contemporary pieces span fashion, sculpture, glassblowing, ceramics, photography, jewelry, and more. Short videos of the artists at work reveal the techniques and creative process behind each piece, making the craftsmanship even more impressive.
All of this unfolds inside a centuries-old palazzo overlooking the Grand Canal. Beauty quite literally surrounded by beauty!
Go fight the power before the exhibition closes on October 4.

When we heard Manhattan declared September 25 Dolly Parton Appreciation Day (yep, 9/25), it felt like the perfect excuse to revisit an old favorite.
Dolly’s first film hilariously paired her with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as three fed-up coworkers who decide they’ve had enough of their sexist boss. Add in hijinks, big hair, and one of the catchiest theme songs ever written, and you’ve got nostalgia gold!

In need of a new hype song? Our Gen Z intern has had Olivia Rodrigo's drop dead and stupid song playing on repeat (yes, the lowercase song titles are intentional), so we're giving her the mic on this rec:

The collaborations continue with Daisy Chain, Rodrigo's all-women festival inspired by Lilith Fair. The lineup brought together Chappell Roan, Bikini Kill, and The Breeders, with special guests Stevie Nicks and Alanis Morissette. As if we couldn’t love her even more, $20 million in proceeds supported 10 nonprofits focused on women's health, advocacy, and rights.”
