You Are Now Entering the Overwhelm Zone
You’re traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are those of imagination.
Your next stop: the Overwhelm Zone! Busy season is in full swing, and we’re starting to feel the fourth-quarter fright creeping up on us like Michael Myers.
Fear not; we’re here with a few things to brighten up the busy..
What do you get when Parks and Rec meets Stephen King? Welcome to Widow’s Bay, “the next Martha’s Vineyard and definitely not cursed.”
The Apple TV horror-comedy draws on the visual language of ’70s and ’80s filmmaking, building suspense the old-fashioned way through practical effects, camera movement, and pacing. Inspired by Jaws and The Shining, even pleasant scenes slowly convince you something sinister is going on.
The production design is on-point. Wood paneling galore, rotary phones, old TVs, and outdated technology make the isolated New England island feel strangely stuck in time. You’re never quite sure what decade you’re in, and that’s exactly the point.
Widow’s Bay took home a whopping 14 Emmys this year, including wins for Outstanding Comedy Series, writing, directing, acting, cinematography, and (no surprise) production design. Apparently, we weren’t the only ones impressed.

You know that part of a horror movie when you hear the slow chill-inducing creeeeak of an opening door? No one is quite sure what's coming next, then BOOM! Sh*t starts going sideways, fast! Step aside, Hitchcock...we’re talking about something way more terrifying: self-doubt.
Being in a constant state of overwhelm can have us running scared. But there’s no need to hide in the closet until it’s over; this Letter From The Editor is the garlic necklace you need to defeat the energy vampire.
Every October, we willingly drive an hour to overpay for produce, brave the crowds, and haul home multiple giant pumpkins destined to become squirrel food on the porch.
Yes, it’s cliché, but tradition is tradition. So go drink that cider, take the obligatory photo, and eat way too many of those warm sugary donuts.
We give you full permission to put on your big dumb hat and go be a basic fall bitch.
